Monochrome & Ribbon

Supplies: American Crafts Crimson Red cardstock, Red &
White polka dot washi tape - Simon Says Stamp Kit of the Month
May, Staz on black ink, Sentiment - You can do anything stamp set -
Simon Says Stamp, Stars - Cuttlebug embossing folder, pop dots,
red gem - Eastern Treasures and ribbon - from my stash.

This week's challenge on Paperplay this week is to create a monochromatic card/LO/Project and to incorporate ribbon into your creation.

We are very kindly sponsored by The Ribbon Girl this week.  I briefly met The Ribbon Girls (Mary and Andrea) at the NEC in Birmingham recently - wish I had time for a cuppa and a chat!  Next time!!!

I used ribbon from my stash but there is similar ribbon available from our sponsor right here.  I love this saddle stitched red ribbon.  I decided to keep my monochrome card very simple with texture being the feature.  I used my Big Shot and an embossing folder on some scrap cardstock and stamped the sentiment directly to the washi tape before adhering to the embossed cardstock.

Missing for a while!

Hey everyone, just wanted to let you know that I will be missing for a few days.  Not going anywhere but have a family occasion this weekend.  Since the boys only went back to school this morning after their Easter holidays - I have a very long list of jobs to do!.

I will stop by as much as I can but need to spend time cleaning my house and cooking up a storm!

I have ordered some Purple Onion Designs Stamps and look forward to playing with them when they arrive.  Also just about to order this month's Simon Says Stamp Card Kit - have you seen it?  Adore the colours in it - so hopefully by next week I will have fun things to play with when the scheduling resumes to normal!

That's the update!  Hope you have a wonderful week.

Can you knit a tiny jumper for little babies in Africa?

I read a post over on The Ribbon Girl Blog about one of their Design Team Members - Dawny P doing a collection of sweaters/jumpers for babies in Africa.

She is asking if anyone can knit a tiny little jumper and beanie hat for poor babies in Africa - please pop over to her blog for the full story and a copy of the very simple knitting pattern - I am going to try to knit at least one.  Rather than pastel colours, the little woolies should be knitted in dark/bright colours as they are seldom washed.  If you can't knit one yourself, could you help by spreading the word out there in the land of blog?  This is the link to the post on Dawny's blog

Thanks for taking the time to read this - as soon as I know how much wool is needed I will let you know.  If you are a knitter I bet you are like me with lots of odd balls of wool in the bottom of the wool tub/drawer/container!

Edited to add - Toni just posted a completed jumper and hat on her blog here and said it took her less than 100g to make both.

Lily Pad is turning ONE!

Can you believe that's it has been a year since Lily Pad Cards opened the pond?

Deborah and Vicky are doing an amazing job and today we are celebrating with a First Birthday blog hop.  You should be joining me from Vicky's blog.  If not, a master list is available at Lily Pad Cards.

There are three prize packages with a total retail value of over $300 on today's blog hop! These prizes will be awarded by random draw.  To be eligible, you need to “like” us on Facebook.  If you would like to improve your chances,  you can leave comments on the blogs participating in this hop (including the Lily Pad). For each comment, you get your name entered again (but only one comment per blog, please).

Supplies:  Shall we dance stamp - Lili of the Valley, pp - Daisy & Dandelion
"Some Bunny Loves you" collection - docrafts, tuxedo black -
memento, copics R81, RV02, 0, E43, V91, E50, RV23, E93, R000,
white alpha numbers - papermania (coloured brown), buttons -
PTI and stash, embroidery floss, pink washi tape, diamond stickles.

Above is my birthday card for Lily Pad - woohoo!  I kept the colouring very simple on this one, I let the patterned paper be the focal feature!.
I used the "Shall We Dance" stamp from Lili of the Valley which is actually a couple dancing but I masked off the groom/male dancer and just stamped the girl.  This inspiration wasn't mine but it was one of the first things that Jane Millard said when she saw the stamp at the Hobbycrafts Show last Saturday, so thanks Jane!

Perfect card for a birthday gal who's turning one!  Don't you think?
Thanks so much for stopping by today and the next stop on the hop is the wonderful Patricia.

If you hit a bad link, you can always  go back to Lily Pad to view the master list of blog links. Please report any bad links to aris@inlinkz.com.

The blog hop will be open for one week - that means that everyone can leave comments for a chance to win prizes until 12:00 p.m. EST on Sunday, April 8.
