Happy Birthday

Used this fun image "Pom Pom" by LOTV and teamed it with a beautiful sentiment sticker which I bought on sale recently from Simon Says Stamp.

I used colouring pencils instead of copics on this card for a change!  Used them to put a light wash of colour on the image and added stickles for some fun!

 If you are a regular visit to my blog (firstly thank you for stopping by!) and secondly you will know that I am not a gal to use flower embellies very often.  I found these pink prima / anon other in my stash and decided they were perfect paired with the floral pp from Crate Paper.

Fun to be Ten!

I was thrilled when Linda McClain from Catered Crop contacted me earlier this week to tell me that I was a hit on the Banners and Bunting Challenge.

Then Linda told me about Sunday's Quickfire and the Recipe swap is Rainbows!  Check out all the details here.

So here's what I created

Supplies:  Outlines Alphabet - Papertrey Ink, Tim Holtz Distress inks - Fired Brick, 

Spiced Marmalade, Scattered Straw, Peeled Paint, Faded Jeans, 

Chipped Sapphire, Milled Lavender, Anita's Tall White Card Blank, 

glossy accents, Black Tuxedo ink - Memento, 

Guillotine - Purple Cows and pop dots.

Okay - so this card was FUN to make.

I thought a splattered paint effect would create a fun card.  Firstly I stamped the word "ten"/brackets and dots on blank cardstock.  I then used glossy accents to "fill in" the word and brackets.  

I wasn't sure if the ink would "resist" in the areas I had added the glossy accents - it didn't!  I think it may "resist" with other paints but the distress ink travelled underneath through the paper.  I don't mind because I actually like the finished product - a happy accident!.

 

I put some ink from my ink pad onto my kraft sheet, sprayed some water to make it liquid and then used a paintbrush and mask to do a portion of the card at a time.  I started in the middle with the green then the blue, violet and lavender.  I then moved to the other side of the green and then did the yellow, orange and red.

I trimmed my cardstock after the inks were dry to the size I wanted, matted and layered using pop dots and then added that layer to the based layer of cardstock.

Use a Die!

Basic Grey, SRM Sentiment sticker, roller adhesive, machine stitching,

copic - 0,Y00, E00, YR00, BG10, pearls - Iconcraft.

This week's challenge on Paperplay is "Use A Die".  We want to see die cuts on your cards/LO's etc.

I used this fun image by Whiff of Joy called "Forever Friends".  We are very kindly sponsored by Whiff of Joy this week.

I selectively coloured it with copics, machine stitched it to the pp , then added it to the card base (more machine stitching!).  I found the cute banner amongst the die cut transparencies from Basic Grey and added the sentiment sticker right on top!

I think this is perfect for an Engagement, Anniversary or Wedding!

I reached for my colouring pencils for this card instead of my copics and I have to admit I really enjoyed using them.  A little bit of shading and hey presto!

The "hearts on a string stamp" I recently purchased from Purple Onion Designs.  This stamp was designed by Stephanie Ackerman.  It is so great for paper piecing, colouring with pencils / copics etc.  So many options.

I am entering this into the Banners & Bunting Challenge over on Catered Crop.  The prize this week is digis from Torico - you know I am a huge fan!!!!

Father's Day Card

 textured dark navy cardstock - Papermania copics, computer

buttons from stash, pop dots, Anita's Card blank and roller adhesive.

Meant to share this card yesterday - but unfortunately didn't manage to!

The solid cardstock is navy blue (looks black in this photo).  Our Summer is not particularly great at the moment - rain, storms, wind ... more rain.  You get the picture?  So taking photos in that light can prove challenging at times!

The boys wrote lovely messages inside this card for the "Best Dad Ever!" and we had a wonderful sunny day to celebrate together.

A Summer Hello

Supplies:  Hero Arts digital kit - HA Vintage Skyland birds, old 

dictionary page,  pp - London Market Collection - Pink Paislee, 

textured cardstock - Bazzill (SSS - Kit of the month)

 and tombow roller adhesive. 

A clean and simple card using a Hero Arts digital kit.  I left it sentiment free but love the soft colours - reminds me of Summer Roses.

Back to Kraft Basics

Supplies:  Stamps - Follow your heart by My Mind's Eye, 
sentiment - SRM sticker in brown,Brown ink - Memento, 
white colouring pencil, Martha Stewart Butterfly 
punch, Chipboard frame - Papermania, A6 kraft card 
blank - Papermania, pearls - Iconcraft (coloured with copics), 

adhesive tape - Hampstead by Papermania, tea dye distress ink,

blending tool and brown copic.

This week's challenge on Paperplay is - "Back to Kraft Basics" and we are very kindly sponsored by Simon Says Stamp.

I decided to keep this very simple and let the "kraft base" be my focal point with pops of white!  I used the stamps that came in the March Card Kit from Simon Says Stamp.

I coloured the stamped image with white colouring pencil and love how it pops against the white.  I then punched a butterfly which I inked with distress ink and a blending tool and did the same with the chipboard frame.
