A sandcastle
Okay, so I have been missing for a while - sorry everyone!. An explanation..... I got a knitting kit from my boys for Christmas and have been knitting up a storm. I just have to share the finished creation with you.
This knitting kit was designed by the super talented Suzie Johnson who featured on Kirstie Allsopp's Homemade Home TV series in 2009/2010 - link to the episode here. Suzie made a wonderful Draught Excluder that I fell in love with as soon as I saw it.
I have wonderful memories of my Grandmother teaching me how to knit - she was an amazing knitter and I would adore if she was still around to answer my knitting queries!. Thankfully there are wonderful people like Suzie (The Wool Sanctuary) and the knit and crochet community site - Ravelry.
A beach-hut
or two!
or two!
Fun Fish (not sure about my knitting with sequins.... winged it!!) but I am happy how they turned out.
When you put them all together with magnets - here is what you end up with - a fun Draught Excluder.
Although, to be honest - I really don't know if it will ever end up on the floor! I had so much fun making this, I have just completed another beach hut which I am going to make into a door stop (just the stuffing/lining for the sand to finish) and bought wool to make a beach hut for a new baby's room. Hope you have enjoyed my jaunt away from card making and if you pop over to visit Suzie's knitting blog, be sure to tell her I sent you!
Have a wonderful day and thanks so much for stopping by.

Wow Dee...those are so adorable!
It's nice to see you are enjoying your present. Both my Mother and daughter like to knit but I haven't a clue how. I really love the fishies. Cute!
Aha someone has been busy! No wonder you have no new cards to share, look at all that knitting! Love it!
How fun, Deirdre! I love that you've been enjoying something new! Glad you shared this! Love the way it turned out! Adorable!
Wow, Deirdre these are amazinG! I learned to knit from my SIL and so far all I accomplished are some scarves. I don't know if I can do anything besides straight things. You're so talented!
Hi Deidre, you have been busy, they are brilliant and you sound like your having fun too which is great, I'venot knit for years lol, hugs Liz xx
These are absolutely gorgeous! I must admit I did wonder how any of them were going to keep the draught out until you put it all together - it's too nice for the floor! Ger x.
Those are fab,I also saw them on Kirstie's programme. I used to knit a lot when I was younger and always made my jumpers and cardigans but was never very good at the sewing together bit of the process which makes or breaks a garment.Looks like you have no problem with that, they're great fun and I bet your boys love them too.
These are so FUN!!

Deidre,
Your draught excluder looks brilliant, beautifully knitted. Thank you for your kind words. I don't put mine on the floor- it just seems so wrong.
